My Journey
Growing up in the Surrey countryside, where my love of rural life and making things, inspired a young mind and laid a foundation for a future that only later would make complete sense.
While academic studies were not my strongest point, I excelled in sports and thrived in creative subjects. My dedication to athletics, along with a genuine chance of a professional sporting career was unfortunately blown-apart by recurring injuries.
Deciding against further education, my first job at the age of 18 was with a young handprinted wallpaper company in London. Leaving 14 years later, having held several director level positions, it had become one of the most highly-regarded international interior furnishing brands. This became a precursor to spending almost my entire career in the design industry in leadership roles within sales and marketing, product, brand and business development.
I soon developed a deep appreciation for the values of craftsmanship and an empathy for emotional intelligence around people’s connection with their feelings and aspirations. Nurturing a values-driven culture and empowering others to reach their full potential became the hallmark of my style of leadership.
Though while life was unfolding with considerable pace, it often felt as though the highs of success were mirrored by the depths of uncertainties.
Balancing a demanding career with my personal life led me to confront some monumental challenges around career uncertainties, financial worries, legal disputes, emotional conflicts, parental concerns, health scares and bereavement.
It was the coaching, mentoring and counselling profession that helped equip me to find perspective, self-belief and resilience during difficult times. My curiosity of psychology and commitment to personal growth, soon became deeply important to me.
It was when I faced near burnout that I decided to step away from my career and rethink my priorities. I left the South East moved to Devon where my values and interests were better aligned and began to reorientate my life, transition through change and rediscover a purpose that I had lost somewhere along the way.
Self-discovery has been a compass that has guided me through many life challenges, achievements, successes, failures and regrets; where learning to access my own resourcefulness led me toward a renewed sense of purpose, as I reconnected with my authentic self.
My journey to becoming a life coach and passion for craft and heritage, embody an emotional significance that is rooted in authenticity and values that are deeply human.
I now feel more compelled than ever to connect with those with whom my journey might resonate.
